Let’s face it. During your quest to make money online, you are bound to end up overwhelmed by the different ways to make money online; each sounding too good to be true. Some sites may claim to help you earn $1000 per week from working 2 hours a day and other sites show pictures of cheques from Google with amounts towards the 10k figure.
You will encounter this, but do not be easily swayed by their claims. Try to keep cool and keep a rational mind. Many of these websites are just luring you in, so that you will sign up and get spammed or exploited.
So this, brings me to the Tip of the Day. One way to differentiate a legit site from a scam site is mainly by their traffic that they receive. That is, how popular is their website. I like to call this term “social proof” and it works really similar to our interactions in every day to day life. If we are at a bar, and if you meet a handsome guy and he already is good friends with your other friends, then chances are, you will want to get to know him better.
We can use this concept to see how popular a particular website is. One of the websites that I use to check this out is Websiteoutlook.com. This is a pretty reliable service and it provides a lot of statistics on the daily page views and traffic that the website gets.
So let’s use this tool and analyze Project Payday, shall we?
Here is what I see when I input the website: Project Payday
Wow. That’s a lot of data.
So what does this mean? Well, for starters, it means that every single day, Project Payday receives about 75,000 page views. That is pretty impressive. Imagine that, 75,000 page views per day. That to me, signifies that the website is legit as if it wasn’t why would this many people visit it on a daily basis.
Now what do these graphs mean? This shows the traffic rank and the page views over a period of 6 months. As you can see, there is a gradual increase in the number of page views. From these trends you can see that this site is growing in popularity. Now if this was not a legit site, you will not expect this trend at all. In fact, you would expect a decline because people will have figured out that the site is a scam and they will decide to leave it. But this is not the case for Project Payday, so you can be sure that Project Payday is for real.
This technique of analyzing the traffic logistics of the website is very useful in weeding out the scammer sites. This is one of the arsenals that I use to determine the legitimacy of a site.
Stick around, and I will provide more of my tips to help you succeed in making money online.

One Response to “Tip of the Day: How to Determine whether a site is Legit or Not”
Thanks Josh for the blog. I was just about to complete an offer on Project Payday when I decided to read the terms and conditions of the offer. I would get my free 14 day trial and if I didn’t call back within that time to cancel my credit card would be billed and continually be billed every 45 days! Where is it that I would be MAKING money? Yes there is investment involved for the Project Payday CD’s. In my opinion it is a scam. There IS a cost, a hefty one!
